Innovation asks leaders to pursue a useful outcome without pretending every step is already known. That requires curiosity, clear boundaries and a willingness to learn from evidence.

## Turn an abstract quality into behavior

Innovative leadership can be observed in the questions a manager asks, the way experiments are framed, the response to a failed attempt and the speed with which learning is applied.

Defining those behaviors gives teams a practical standard. It also gives a coach something more useful to discuss than whether a person simply “seems innovative.”
